Target Participant Group
This course is designed for both care and senior staff, within any organisation who move and handle clients.
Aim
The aim of this course is to reduce the risk to the client and the staff member through efficient moving and handling.
Synopsis
The course will explore and extend participants knowledge of efficient moving and handling, including The Law, Individual Responsibilities, Movements, Moves related to their workplace and risk assessment (moving & handling plans).
This course enables the participant to gain practical experience in the recognised moving & handling moves, in a safe and controlled environment.
Objectives
Having completed the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify Efficient Moving & Handling
- Identify Inefficient Moving & Handling
- Be aware of Risk Assessment
- Identify the main legal implications of incorrect handling
- Be familiar in the use of Slide Sheets, Transfer Boards, Hoists and Slings
This course content meets and exceeds Skills for Care Common Induction Standards and is vital for anyone involved in the moving and handling of people. The course provides opportunity for skills practice including assisting to walk, assisting to stand, chair work and bed work.
This practical course serves as a refresher for experienced staff or as an introduction for new employees.
