Aim
The aim of this course is to increase awareness of Epilepsy and promote quality of life and care through understanding.
Synopsis
The course will explore different skills and methods needed to aid understanding of Epilepsy, enhance effective communication, explore their own thoughts , feelings and assumptions of clients in care.
Objectives
Having completed the course participants will be able to:
Understand Epilepsy and how it presents itself.
State the various seizures
Identify the effects Epilepsy has on the individual and the carer
Assess seizure situations and respond accordingly.
Record seizures and understand the seizure diary
Identify the importance of communication and assessment of risk.
This course provides the opportunity for skills practice, the course will serve as both a refresher for experienced staff and as an introduction to those experiencing a change in their work role.
