The new CIEH Level 1 award in food safety is run as half-day course, to give staff a basic knowledge of food safety
Who Should Attend
This course is suitable for a variety of candidates, including new employees with minimal or no prior food safety knowledge, employees handling low-risk or wrapped food or those who work front of house, such as waiting or check out staff, care assistants, as well as back of house such as kitchen porters or warehouse staff.
Course Content
The training course covers the following topics:-
- Food Safety (food hygiene, hazards, responsibilities)
- Personal Hygiene
- Cleaning
- Contamination
Course Objectives
By the end of this course the learner will have
- Received an introduction to Food safety
- Learnt the standards of personal hygiene required for food preparation & Service
- Knowledge on the levels of cleaning required to ensure safe preparation, service and storage of food
- An understanding of what causes contamination and how to prevent the contamination of food
Course duration
This course is completed over 3 hours, including a multiple choice exam
